I have two in my back garden that I am digging up at the moment

If you can get them out you can have them but they are big, BIG buggers. :)

i've been in contact with a couple of companies that get reclaimed sleepers direct from Network Rail, and can get grade 2 sleepers for about £12 each, delivered (plus vat). Which would mean the whole wall would cost around £200. not bad really, it would cost about the same to build it with breeze blocks (faced with wood).

We too have big garden plans for Easter.  Think we are going to be needed a mini digger for ours and lots and lots of skips Frown

Thats a good price for sleepers I've looked into them to use instead of decking (thought it might work out cheaper cos its to cover a 17m2 area) but they would be about £25 each.

aye, i'm guessing you were pricing up new sleepers rather than the creosote/oil coated reclaimed ones?

if you're after some inspiration, check out the customer photos at railwaysleeper.com, some sweet ideas there!

Yeah they would have to be new for decking really, not sure what we are gonna do have got plans but just clearing whats there is going to be a massive job!

Thats a nice garden, I'll have to get some before and after of mine.

winter was a bit rough for the garden, hopefully with a bit of TLC it'll be sorted for BBQ season :D

Alot of the pics we saw of people who'd used the sleepers for decking actually looked alot nicer with the used ones, as long as they're not too old with too much oil spilt on etc. Tends to make it look more expensive and higher quality!

Lol, funny you mention sleepers. My dad is digging up all the sleepers in our garden. He's gonna replace them by concrete blocks or poles or whatever...

How come people use to just dump sleepers in gardens? I hope the sleep are not holding up the hill I live on or else I'm in trouble about now :D.
